A Bitcoin millionaire has hidden five treasure chests across America, sparking what could become one of the most intriguing modern-day treasure hunts.
Jon Collins-Black, who made his fortune through job hunting websites and Bitcoin investments, has scattered treasure boxes worth $2 million across public lands in the United States. His newly released book "There's Treasure Inside" contains the clues needed to locate these valuable caches.
The treasure troves include remarkable historical artifacts - from a fourth century BC Greek gold loral to a 1960 Olympic gold medal won by sprinter Wilma Rudolph, and even a sapphire diamond brooch that once belonged to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
Collins-Black spent five years carefully planning and executing this ambitious project. The treasure chests vary in size, with one being notably larger than the others. All are placed on public land within 4.8 kilometers of roads and remain above ground.
The inspiration behind this modern treasure hunt stems from Collins-Black's own experience searching for Forrest Fenn's famous hidden treasure. One of the five chests even pays tribute to Fenn, containing some of his original treasures.
"This is a venture to get people off their cell-phones, away from TVs and out into nature," Collins-Black explained. "We have this beautiful world outside, and I don't think we pay attention to it as much as we should."
The entrepreneur's path to wealth began during the financial crisis when he created several successful job hunting websites. He later sold these platforms and made a prescient investment in Bitcoin, which multiplied his fortune substantially.
While physical copies of his book have sold out, Collins-Black plans to release a digital version to make the hunt accessible to everyone. "I think it's a lot about having the right spirit," he said. "It's really about the experience of going out and hunting."
As of now, all five treasure chests remain undiscovered, waiting for adventurous souls to decode the clues and embark on this unique treasure hunting experience.
