A hacker briefly took control of Litecoin's official X (formerly Twitter) account on January 11, using it to promote a fraudulent token supposedly running on the Solana blockchain.

The unauthorized access resulted in posts advertising a fake "LTC on Solana" token, complete with a contract address and suspicious links to a site called "pump.fun" - a known scam platform designed to steal users' funds.

The breach was short-lived, as Litecoin's social media team quickly detected the intrusion and regained control of the account. All unauthorized posts were removed within seconds of appearing.

"We're still investigating the issue, but immediately found a delegated account that was compromised and removed it," the Litecoin team stated after recovering access. They apologized for any confusion caused by the incident.

The attack appears to be part of a broader campaign targeting high-profile cryptocurrency accounts on X. Crypto security experts note that social media account takeovers have become increasingly common, with hackers using them to promote fraudulent tokens and phishing schemes.

Shortly after the Litecoin incident, Foresight Ventures' X account was also compromised in a similar fashion, with the attackers posting fake cryptocurrency-related content.

This series of breaches highlights ongoing security challenges in the cryptocurrency space, where scammers frequently attempt to exploit trusted brands and platforms to target unsuspecting investors.

The Litecoin team has warned followers to remain vigilant and verify all information through official channels, as cryptocurrency scams continue to evolve and become more sophisticated.
